Mission Statement
The Joy Distenfeld Fund was established in 1984 to honor and commemorate the remarkable talents and insight of Joy Distenfeld, who was the Valhalla School District’s school psychologist for 15 years. The Fund stipend award program was established as an enduring way to continue Joy’s work to assist gifted and talented students to explore and fully develop their abilities. Stipends are awarded to qualifying students in grades 3-11 of the Valhalla School District to offset the cost of pre-approved summer enrichment programs in the arts, humanities and sciences. The Fund is a charitable tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.
